These are the instructions on how to perform some of the Incan ‘solar practices’, as taught by the great shaman and chacaruna, Jorge Luis Delgado, on the ‘Inca Cosmovision’ experience in Denmark (see my previous blog, link is here: ‘Inca Cosmovision, Denmark’).
I have adapted these processes from Jorge Luis’ own notes and I thank him for sharing them with us.
1. Solar nourishment
Please do not risk your eyesight by looking directly into the sun during the day! Only at the very beginning of the sunrise, if you can safely catch the very first ray, might you risk looking at the sun, even then, please exercise extreme care!
You should begin by turning East.
Look towards the direction of the sun, only very briefly, before closing your eyes and visualising the sun in your heart, imagine it as being very bright inside of you.
By calling on this ‘Inner Sun’, you can now reach out to and brighten up all of the cells in your physical body. If you are in pain or experiencing any discomfort in your physical body, you might want to stay a bit longer with the affected area – focussing your attention upon the relevant area and visualising this inner light filling it.
When you feel ready, bring your right hand to your heart and your left hand to your solar plexus. If there are other people present, nod & greet them as fellow ‘beings of light’ – recognise the light which is present in everybody. Do not see their personal history, only the light of them.
When you do this practice with a partner, you should hold an awareness that everybody is love and that everybody is unique – no-one is more or less than anyone else, we are merely beings of light.
Uniqueness is a very important contribution to the evolution of life, it helps bring about harmony, beauty and joy. All the solar practices celebrate this ‘harmony of universal diversity’. Where there is true harmony, there is always peace, because love is always present. We do not need to fight for peace, it comes naturally when we are harmonious.
We can also nourish ourselves with this spiritual inner light by looking into the dancing flames of a fire.
2. Activating the etheric crystals in the palms of your hands
Everyday, there are gifts available from the spirits and the masters, we just have to open the door and to welcome whatever comes from the ancient triumvirate of love, service and wisdom.
In ‘Ayni’, that is, in balance, with reciprocity – in this practice, you’ll use your hands to take, to give, & to let the Father Sun’s light flow through you. When we practice this, we can amplify the healing powers of our own hands.
Face East and begin this practice by rubbing your hands together vigorously, then clap your hands together seven times. Rub your hands together and then clap seven times again. Do this seven times, in total.
Next, open your hands and hold them up to the Father Sun. Close your eyes, open your heart and feel the Sun’s light shining through you. You should acknowledge the new frequencies which you can now feel in your hands and in your palms, with gratitude.
Next, you need to visualise bringing this energy into all of your body. In this way, you can feel yourself being healed. Finish with your hands over your heart, in a gesture of gratitude.
Our hands are the tools of Father Sun and Mother Earth, the Divine Father and the Divine Mother. When we become aware of it, we find that we can perform magic, we can encourage beauty & we can bring harmony – the main purposes for which we shamans, indeed, we humans, are here.
This exercise can be very powerful when it is performed, with intent, as a group.
3. Bringing the light into your heart
Face the East. Close your eyes and just take a moment to visualise yourself as a ‘being of light’.
Open your arms and your hands and feel the Sun’s light filling your hands.
Touch your heart with your hands and visualise bringing the Sun’s light into your heart. Tell yourself that this is the place where Father and Mother meet. This is the place within you that has never been hurt, which is who you truly are – the light, the love, the life, shining out brightly from within you, even in the day.
Continue bringing the light into your heart and, when you feel ready, open your eyes, becoming aware of how you now view the outside world. What is new? What is different now that you see the world with light in your heart?
4. Bringing light into all your chakras
For this practice, you need to stand in a comfortable position, facing East and visualise your connection with the Father Sun.
Next, put your thumb and your index fingers together to create a triangle, the point towards the sky. Stretch out your arms and place the triangle over the sun, with the sun at the centre of the triangle. At this point, consciously receive the light of Father Sun into the triangle – with gratitude, love, service and wisdom.
Next, bring this triangle to your crown chakra, at the top of your head.
Stretch out your arms again and place your triangle over the sun. Then, once you feel that the triangle has ‘re-charged’, place the triangle over your forehead and your third eye chakras. Repeat this process with the remaining high chakras – your throat and your heart chakras.
Continue this process for your lower chakras too – for your solar plexus, your sacral and your base chakras – but now change the position of your hands, so that the tip of your triangle points downwards, towards Mother Earth.
To complete this exercise, breathe out sharply your intent – that is what you want for this world – with conscious awareness, out into the cosmic spiral.
5. Surrendering to the light
You will need to use coca-leaves or flower petals as an offering for this practice.
You begin by finding a place in nature to lie down and then you just surrender to the light of the Father Sun!
Make sure that your back and your spinal column are on the ground or upon a rock. Put out your greeting to Father Sun, to the mountains, to the oceans, to the meadows and to the Mother Earth. Show your gratefulness for the day by blowing your gratitude into the coca-leaves or flower petals, then release them.
Allow the Father Sun to connect with your Inner Sun – you should feel very calm. Just relax all of your muscles, all of your body – just surrender!
When you are connected to the Father Sun and with your Inner Sun, you should establish a connection to the ‘Sun beyond the Sun’ – visualise all the cells of your body sparkling with their light.
Next, consciously breathe light in and exhale light out – with love and without fear.
